Analysis Board

Frequently asked questions

What is a chess analysis board?

A board where you can move the pieces for both sides freely while a chess engine evaluates the position. You see who is better (the eval bar), the engine’s best continuations, and you can try different moves from any point - each try is kept as a side line so you can compare them.

Is the analysis board free?

Yes, completely. Stockfish runs inside your browser on your own device, so there is no account, no limit and nothing to install.

How do I analyse a position from a game?

Paste its FEN into the FEN box under the board, or paste the whole game into “Import a PGN”. To build a position by hand, open the Board Editor, place the pieces, then press “Analysis board”.

Can I analyse my own Chess.com or Lichess games?

Yes - for whole games, use Analyze: enter your username and Audit Chess reviews every game, classifies each move and finds the patterns behind your losses. The analysis board is for exploring single positions and lines.
