Frequently asked questions

What is Knightdoku?+

Knightdoku is a pure logic puzzle played on a chessboard. You place one knight in every row, every column and every coloured region, with the rule that no two knights may touch — not even diagonally. It is the same idea as the viral Mewdoku / Star Battle puzzle, reskinned with a chess knight so it doubles as board-visualisation practice.

How does it train chess board vision?+

Solving forces you to read squares by their coordinates, scan whole rows, columns and regions, and hold the board in your head as you eliminate squares. That is exactly the visualisation skill that helps you calculate lines in real games without moving the pieces.

Do the knights move like chess knights?+

No — the knight is a theme, not a chess move. The only rule is that knights cannot occupy touching squares (horizontally, vertically or diagonally), plus one per row, column and colour. There are no L-shaped captures.

Is every puzzle solvable without guessing?+

Yes. Every level has exactly one solution and is verified to be solvable by pure deduction, so you never have to guess. Use the ✕ note to mark squares a knight cannot go, and work from the most constrained row, column or region.

How many levels are there?+

A hundred and forty levels ranked from Easy to Expert by the deduction each puzzle needs — so the ladder climbs from a gentle 5×5 up to demanding 10×10 boards, with sizes mixed by true difficulty rather than strictly by board size. Levels are fixed, so the same number is always the same puzzle, and your progress and best times are saved in your browser — sign in to save them to your account and get ranked on the leaderboard.
